I would certainly love to help. I agree that wallpaper can be a bit icky. Though beautiful vintage wallpaper that would cost thousands could be quite cool. Shame its very rare. I would firstly suggest that painting a bedroom white would be the best. Your friend can buy lovely re-useable wall stickers EVERYWHERE that can make a wall look really gorgeous. That way it is not so permanent. If you would like I can later share some links at where to get these.
